Teal Burrell is a freelance journalist passionate about increasing understanding of the body and brain.


Her writing has been published in The Washington Post, Discover, and New Scientist, among others, as well as online at Science, Runner's World, and Outside. She was awarded a AAAS Mass Media Science and Engineering Fellowship in 2013, where she worked at NOVA.

Teal doubled majored in psychology and mathematics at the University of Richmond and earned her PhD in neuroscience from Georgetown University.

She is also an elite marathoner and writes about her training and racing on her personal blog, milestothetrials.com.
